Its very difficult and something will more then likely be damaged. the best you can do is move to the upstairs while downstairs is completed and vice versa. But it can be done.

well depends on what furniture and carpets have to be moved, also what type of floor ,wood/chip board, as have to run new cable and should remove old . all cables have to be clipped to joists ,not left laying on plaster board, so yes does get involved, then channel out walls for cable runs etc,
YOUR best bet is have a FULL insulation resistance test on all circuits , this will tell you if you need a rewire , or just a few faults to sort out
FINALLY PLEASE only use registered electricians . who are registered with STROM/NAPIT /NICIEC ETC , and check they are registered by looking at id card
if in doubt you can check on line , this work has to be signed of for building regulations. but thats included in cost, call me if i can help

Rewire is a complex and intrusive job. Walls will have to be chased, floors lifted, etc.
Can be done, but it would be easier on an unfurnished property.

As someone has said it can be done, although it’s a messy job and the upheaval is incredible.
You should also be prepared to pay more for an occupied rewire.

Call an electrician for a quote rather than call one when you have a problem and want to know why it has just cost you more to put your problems right. Every person to their own trade!!!!
