What is the best material for kitchen cabinets?
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.36 PM
We are thinking solid wood drawers and doors but know you can't really get the carcasses in that material We are thinking of going with either benchmarx or howdens kitchens. Thanks for your answers. Which companies have mdf carcass??? Benchmarx carcass has a veneer faced chipboard and howdens carcass has just chipboard What should we go with? Thank you in advance

As a fitter of Howdens kitchens I have no problem in reccomending them, they also are guaranteed for 20/25 years, sorry can't remember which, Birch ply would be better but these would be bespoke and therefore costly. I've fitted pretty much all the off the shelf kitchens, I find Wren carcases to be OK but all things taken into account, ie, quality, availability end result I favour Howdens.
Hope this helps, Ian....

Most manufacturers use MFC which is melamine faced chipboard which is perfectly suitable for kitchen applications.
If you use MDF, medium density fibreboard, it will need to be sealed with either paint or varnish and will be susceptible to wear and tear meaning, you will need to apply paint or varnish again.
