Loft insulation and boarding

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.39 PM

Hi I'm looking to insulate and board my loft for the kids to have it as a play room I've already built stairs to the loft my question is what would be best insulation and boards to use and what would be the process? If I used the boards rather than the wool under the floor boards would they be able to be smaller than the recommended 270mm? Thanks

you may also need to streghten the ceiling joist as they will not be strong enough to support any weight, generally the loft is small joists which is ok for light storage but not man enough for anything else, then you have the added problem of ventilation to stop the build up of condensation creating dampness so the insulation depth is the least of your worrys. good luck alex
