Door frame expansion gap
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.39 PM
Carpenter has changed internal timber door frame. After a night or two the horizontal has bowed significantly and door hitting horizontal as well as vertical. Theres no gap above the frame and the verticals are in contact with the floor. When he had finished he said i should put expanding foam in the cavities, which I did. I can't be 100% sure if the bow was there before the foam was sprayed in (the next day). Timber cold when he fitted, heating was on when noticed. A small sliver of foam was sprayed in the tiny gap at the front of the horizontal, not room to get much in, which carpenter is saying is the cause of the bow. Ie trying to blame me. Alot more was sprayed at the sides as 25mm gap at least. The horizontal touches the lintel at least on one side and probably the other. The bottom of frame is about 8 to 9mm variation to top. My thoughts are there's no expansion gap top and bottom causing the bowing after heating on? What ya think? Also is it standard to glue architrave on or just nail gun?
