Damp proofing and Insulation

My roof was made circa 1850, has no felt and there is some damp in a number of the rafters. The dampness is around 18/19 apples per square whatevers according to a foam insulation salesman. Is putting a liner in and then spraying with foam a sensible thing to do with an old roof that has some damp and fungus growth??
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

No definitely not sort the problem from the outside your only masking the problem and giving yourself major issues later personaly I think it’s a bad idea

no its not a good idea, it will seal any danmpness in the timbers and rot them,
your best bet is to strip of the roof tiles and under felt,
I did one of these in london the morgage company would not even give a morgage on it till the foam was removed.once foamed its impossible to reseal any broken tiles, thought this pratice had been dicontinued it was popular a few years back covered with the usual30yr insurance backed garauntee that wasnt worth the paper it was printed on.
did this salesman arrive by coach and horses

Just don’t have the foam basically it will completely ruin your roof structurally

Stay well clear of foam not a good idea get the roof checked out from the outside first
