INternal wall won't dry after external water ingress

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.40 PM

An external pipe leaked and our internal wall got wet. This has been fully investigated and is the reason for the wet wall and has been fixed. We hacked off the internal plaster after 3 months , then dried the wall a further 3 weeks and now added hardwall on top. However, there is a wet patch which hasnt dried since the application 10 days ago. The hardwall also is not even and would require about 10mm of skim. Can someone please advice if we can plaster/ paint over the remaining wet patch or if it would get mouldy? The uneven hardwall the builder applied...can this be evened out with skimming or does he have to apply another layer of hardwall? Thank you for your advice!

The new plaster would need to be removed again. Then investigate the damp patch it will need to be dried out. Only once 100% dry then replaster the wall again.

If the wall is still wet after all this time you must still have water coming in from some where and will need to be sorted before you can plaster and then a tight coat of hardwall over the wall to even it out then skim it
