Radiator how close to walk-in shower

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.40 PM

Hello, We are installing a walk-in shower but not sure if we can have our radiator towel rail on the wall at the end (entrance / exit) of the shower. Any advice would be a great help. Thank you in advance

Hi there, this can be done depending on the length of the showering area. As long as the radiator is far enough away from splashes its ok. Invest in a good quality radiator to make sure the coating of chrome or whatever colour is of a good standard. Hope this helps

Hello, my first thought would be to ensure that its a central heating fed towel rail and not an electric or dual fuel towel rail, if it is fed by solely central heating then it can be fitted anywhere in the shower area, the pipes are better coming from the wall than the floor as there can be accumulated water on the floor that could potentially leak through, seal around the pipes with silicone and get a good quality towel rail and you'll be fine. chrome will rust, you'll have to buy stainless steel, I use a company called JIS and have never had a call back for rust yet hope this helps Matt

Siting a rad there is no problem. However most companies small print state that a heated towel rail is for warming a dry towel, not drying a wet one. (as sure care should be taken to not get said rail wet as it will rust). However, if you go for a stainless steel rail this won't be an issue.

Hi, if your towel warmer is going to be in the cubicle itself or in the 'wet' area then I would invest in a stainless steel towel warmer. With the best will in the world a steel radiator in the wet area (even doing it's best to avoid splashes :-) ) will be prone to rust. The heat output from a stainless steel towel warmer will be far superior too.
