Roof for East facing single story extension

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.39 PM

We are having a single story extension. I Wanted to know what type of roof windows will let in more sun light. Thinking of a lantern or a pitched roof with veluxs. The extension is facing east.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

A lantern would be the answer if the extension has a flat roof construction , but if it`s a pitched roof then a velux would be the best option. Used both on lots of our jobs. Regards Fred....

A Lantern will let more light in ...but more expensive then 2 velux ..and where you have a flat roof for a lantern, which has its own problems down the line (maintenance) a pitch roof for the velux which at the out set maybe a little more expensive, it is less Maintenance..plus the added Advantage of having a higher ceiling hight internally giving the impression of more space ...cheers Bob

If the flat roof is done in grp there is no maintenance and roof is a lot cheapened then a pitched roof and with the lantern roof light it is a beautiful look inside
