Can I safely install a gas cooker?

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.19 PM

I have just bought a flat in an old tenement building. The kitchen is medium size and has no windows, although it has a fan in the ceiling that seems to work (it looks old and I have no idea how efficient it is) My question is how can I safely install a gas cooker? Is the ceiling fan enough ventilation? The fan is placed in a corner of the room, not on top of the space for the cooker. Many thanks

hello, No to install a gas hob/cooker your required to have a opening window or equivalent.. also if the room is under 10m3 you will also require a vent to outside. extraction hood should be fitted over to extract any co2 and unwanted gasses and smells, this will also prevent cupboard being put above as this is prohibited thank you

You need to be competent a d qualified and gas safe registered , you need to be able to perform a gas tightness test ,after installation to ensure it is gas tight and no leaks and you need adequate ventilation ,

Quite straight forward no cookers in kitchens required either a opening door or window Alan
