how do i seal and build up a 5 cm Gap at end of bathtub behind taps

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.18 PM

I am trying to do a temporary seal/ patch up job, around our bath tub until I get a chance to redo the whole bathroom. Some of the tiles were loose in this gap and when I lifted them up, there was a soft wet putty-like substance under them that had black mould around it, so I lifted it, dug out the putty and sprayed with black mold killer and have been drying it out over the last 4 days. Now that its dry (can see the exposed wood that was under the tiles and putty stuff) how do I raise it back up to the level of the bath tub edge, and make a hard surface and then reseal the area (before putting tile back on) so that the water does not sit in a valley and create a permanent damp area again. Basically looking to build up the area to stop water sitting in it. Bit of a nightmare, I know, but again, looking for a temporary fix for the next year or so. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

You can use a strip of plastic edging to fill the gap and tidy up the appearance it will also stop water getting down the back of the bath wall most DIY places sell it in tiling section

Without looking at the job would say use a good quality silocne waterproof sealant there many on the market suitable for the job d10 is a good sealant as it expands into gaps and can be cut and sanded . It is resistent to all water types and have final finish say a plastic strip or tile on top .
