External Door replacement

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.18 PM

When replacing the external doors on a property (in our case 1 x double patio door and 1 x single kitchen door), do the UPVC frames always have to be replaced, or is it possible to replace just the doors? We are having the rear of our house rendered this summer to fix some damp issues, which is a higher priority for us in terms of time and budget available than the doors, but we may look to get these replaced at a later date as they have dropped slightly and there is a gap at the top which lets colder air in, but don't want to damage the render Thanks

If your lucky to find a size that will fit. but this is very rare as hinges and profiles very rarely match up. so for the most efficient and best job you will need to change the UPVC frame also. If its just a repair you require , you can for example renew seals , mechanisms , hinges and handles. depends what you require. hope this helps

No you can’t do that !!! To many reasons to list but NO. If your existing doors DID work and now don’t work then the solution is to renovate/repair them .Even if they are old it can be done and should be as good as new. If you are set on new doors you really need to do it before rendering or risk damage to your nice new render .
