Change of ownership

I have recently purchased a house and along with other legal documents we were provided with an invoice for work done on a flat roof. The invoice states that the guarantee is for 10 years however the contactors have stated that due to the work being done for previous owners they are not obligated to repair it. The work was only done 2 years ago so the guarantee is well in date, is it true they do not have to do anything or are they still responsible for repairs?

Basically, I would actually honour the warranty, but some guarantees do not transfer, whilst others can transfer more than once, you will have to check with a legal source to ascertain a more substantial answer

Always make sure that the work has an insurance-backed warranty, those are transferrable on re-sale, and also covered if a company were to go out of business. In my opinion, all works should be insurance-backed, it protects the client indefinitely.
