Hi I noticed 2 months ago a thin crack running right along my ceiling. I run some filler over it and although it wasn’t the best job it seemed to work ok. The last week I noticed another crack running along and joining it. Like an L shape in the ceiling. Now I’m worried with them joining will the ceiling cave in? The cracks were very thin some of them almost unnoticeable and when I push against it there’s no noise or movement so I think it’s just an eye sore but am anxious.
The cracks have been filled but can see where they were would a coat of emultion disguise them a bit or make it worse ?
Will my ceiling fall in ?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?
A it is unlikely a coat of paint will cover it up a professional painter might be able to fill and sand it but it is likely the cracks will reappear due to the movement in the plasterboard you can try to put screws either side of the cracks to refix the boards and stop any movement the screw holes would then need filling but the only way to make sure it doesn’t happen again would be to refix the boards tape the cracks with scrim a joint tape and reskim the ceiling

No your ceiling will not cave in as you have already tested to see if there is movement, if there was movent in ceiling them an overboard and skim would be recommended. If you have already tried filling and painting where the cracks are and you can still notice them then i doubt very much that just paint would cover them this time. my personal recommendation would be to put additional screws in either side of where the cracks are to make sure there is no movement along the joins then scrim tape over where all cracks are and re-skim.
