How to remove patio door frame?
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.18 PM
We have a Spectus patio door frame between our lounge and conservatory. We've already had the doors removed. We were hoping to remove some plasterboard and pull the frame forward but we've found out that 10-15mm of the frame is behind brickwork ... which we don't want to touch. We can't find any screws on the frame either. Is it possible to cut out some plasterboard on either side of the frame for leverage and then literally cut through the plastic / metal frame to dismantle it in sections? Hoping this will be the cheapest solution! Thanks.

Hi to remove the frame you could hit the corners with a chisel which would snap the weld .then cut the bottom of the frame in half the rest should come our then without damaging your walls

On the inside edge of the frame , behind the plasterboard there will be clips fixed to the back of frame , and fixed to the wall at the other end of the clip.
Cut board back , find clip and cut it. Then cut one side of frame and it will then all fold out

I would cit the frame in the middle top and bottom and try ease it away from the wall. If you can not see any fixing screws the chances are it is lugg fixed or on straps which inevidently cause damage to your plaster line..
