I have a back boiler which has decided to stop working, the pilot light is on.

Hello,my back boiler has stopped working, the pilot light is on and it’s set at the highest temp, number 6,it was on and I heard a kind of ooomph noise then noticed it wasn’t firing up,the radiators were hot at this point so it had been working fine,I then noticed that the timing/programming box had also stopped,I checked the plug and the red light was off,is this maybe the reason my boiler isn’t working?

Hi by the sounds of it the programmer has gone and needs replacing as it is not sending the boiler to signal to fire up.
Check the fuse board has not tripped and if it is wired into a spur socket check the fuse hasn’t blown.

This may not be a better answer ! Check electric to the programmer , there should be a reset on the programmer, try that if not ! Replace programmer ?
