What are the wires and cables running under a kitchen sink unit (in the flooring)?

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.18 PM

I need to fill a large hole in the flooring under a kitchen sink unit to prevent mice. There are white wires running loose on the flooring, coming underneath the ground, and some pipes (probably gas?) along the wall. What would be the safest way and safest material to fill the hole with resepct to these wires and pipes?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

It is not possible to identify what a wire is from its colour alone. Best to ask a local electrician to call in and see if he can identify them. If they are small they could be alarm system cables or telephone wires or even data cables.

Leave the wires and the pipes well alone. If the hole is in a solid floor then fill it with some concrete mixed with SBR instead of water until it is a thick paste.if the pipes and cable come out of the hole you will need to tape them with duct tape to stop the concrete getting on them as it will react with copper pipe and eventually destroy it

Wire wool is a good choice to stop mice getting through cracks. Not messy and can be done by anyone.
