Leaking by chimney stack

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.36 PM

Hi I contacted a roofer re a leak I had around my chimney stack which was causing a damp patch on the ceiling in one of the bedrooms. They have since been out and fitted new flashings around the stack to “fix” the problem but a few days after completion we had rain and I have been in the loft to find the below. https://ibb.co/cbCjRfw https://ibb.co/gynC02V https://ibb.co/D8gt5Ng https://ibb.co/Hn8k02F I have been asking them to come back and as yet they have not. I suppose my question would be is there anything else that could be causing a leak like this running down the chimney stack or is it likely that the install of the new flashings has been completely badly?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

To be fair there’s no way you can tell till being looked at. but by the looks of it runing down like that I would say the lead is not done properly Thanks Paul

You may need a new lead saddle to the rear of the stack or the stack may need repointing. Also could be leak coming in further up on the roof and travelling down the membrane/felt and getting in under the saddle. Good luck.

100% it’s the lead work around the stack cover flashings, soakers and lead aprons! Slate/tiles could also be broken!

Either the lead flashing is not right or the soakers in between the tiles are not in place
