How to eradicate surface water from my garden after rainfall
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.36 PM
HI THERE, I'VE GOT A PROBLEM WITH WATER NOT DRAINING IN MY GARDEN. AFTER RAINFALL, IT IS SITTING ON THE SURFACE, NOT DRAINING AND IS NOW UNDER THE HOUSE AS I HAVE LIFTED FLOORBOARDS TO CHECK. WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO DEAL WITH THIS. IVE HEARD I CAN INSTALL A SOAKAWAY BUT NOT SURE IF THIS IS THE ONLY OPTION.
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

A soakaway might be a solution, although not a good one considering you have water underneath your floorboards. I would suggest proper drainage to keep water away from your homes foundation by installing a French drain system around the house. Start digging a trench around the foundation line it with gravel, and place a drain with perforations in it to pull the water away. Cover the drain with gravel and add soil over it. But make sure the trench has at least a 3- 6 percent down slope to enable the water 💧to drain away freely.
