Driveway ideas to reduce noise and vibrations

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.36 PM

Hello My driveway is about 5 metres in length (I.e from the front door to the pavement) I live on a fairly busy road with passing lorries and buses etc When large vehicles drive past, you can to some extent feel the vibrations on the wall albeit ever so slight - there’s also quite a lot of noise when a large vehicle drives by I’m thinking of refurbishing my driveway - I wanted to ask if there any ideas for reducing noise and vibrations through the ground? Any special type of shrubs that reduce noise? Any special type of concrete etc that can reduce the vibrations? Any ideas or advice would be much appreciated Thanks

Instead of sharp sand use 2/6mm limestone to lay paving. This will cut more than 40 percentage of vibrations and laurel hedges besides

I don't belive the hedging will deal with the vibration ... only noise , and for a hedge to be affective it would need to be fairly dence... not great with such a small frontage. There is no real solution other than digging a deep trench across the front of the property and filling it with a silty sand. This would reduce some of the vibration traveling through.
