Strength of steel square tubing

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.36 PM

Hopefully a simple question. I have a 1.8m x 1m x 3cm wooden table top, would 3 runs of 2.5cm square steel tubing be strong enough to support this? A secondary concern would be is there likely to be sag?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

With the box section you described, that should be more than adequate under normal circumstances. With 3cm timber and 2.5 box section you could walk on it without sagging.

The answers you received are quite good but if you are unsure then why not add another box steel to give that extra strength. Good luck
