Roof leaks after work on adjoining garage

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.36 PM

I've had some work carried out just under a year ago to our garage roof. The work involved replacement felt and gutter lining. Since then through the summer things were alright however this last couple of weeks has shown several wet patches re-emerging and drips coming back into the garage as before. I have been told by the guy who carried out the work that the issue could be due to the adjoining garage guttering overflowing and and so it would be best to ditch the gutter on their roof and create a smooth felt curve straight on to ours for around 150 extra. I felt this maybe a viable option however I have now also noticed leaking inside from our gutter which is not connected to next door which has made me question whether this solution would necessarily be the right fix. So really I just want to make sure we're going down the right avenue before proceeding.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

WITHOUT ACTUALLY LOOKING AT THE ISSUE ITS REALLY IMPOSIBLE TO SAY WHAYT IS GOING ON AND WHAT THE ANSWER MAYBE, YOU REALLY NEED AN INDERENDENT REPORT ON WHAT HAS BEEN DONE AND WHAT NEEDS DONE BEFORE YOU SPEND ANYTHING FURTHER, ALTHOUGH AN INDEPENDENT SURVEY MAY COST YOU IN THE LONG RUN IT MAY SAVE YOU MONEY. GOOD LUCK ALEX

By the sounds of things both of use are joining each other one hasn’t got her sitting over the top of the other roof yes it would be a good idea to join both roof together to stop any future problems if they are joined together there is no join to cause any problems in the future

in my opinion if it's pvc guttering on outside edges even blocked gutter should not course your roof to leak.....if a joining box's gutter or concrete gutter on outside edge possible joining roof may need attention... best thing is to check all overlaps on felt to make sure they are well stuck down .if against a wall check lead & overlaps to flashings..as i have not seen this roof i have judged it on a standard felt garage roof.. can't see you have to pay any more money as its what you paid for in the first place
