Rubber Tile Cutting

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.36 PM

I have a series of EPDM rubber tiles that are 30 millimetres thick (https://www.slip-not.co.uk/productdetail/Interlocking-Playground-Mats) that I require cut into certain sizes to fit an outdoor yard area. I understand that the EPDM rubber tiles could be cut with a jigsaw, but not with a knife. Is this a specialist sort of task or can a handyman / builder / carpenter with access to a jigsaw or a circular saw assist with this on-site?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

You can do it with a utilty knife and straight edge.Put tile on a piece of wood mark where to cut put straight edge and series of cuts as tile drops keep cutting also tou can get blades to cut rubber for jigsaw.

Hi Tanaan, EPDM can be free cut with a slitter like this: https://www.rubba-seal.co.uk/product/epdm-slittercutter/?gclid=CjwKCAiAl4WABhAJEiwATUnEFw2nw7uaIJyldNWJbd-CjvCTrzlUxp01COpCH4yfZKSbzUHiGNIq-hoCOUcQAvD_BwE

Agree with JMSH, rubber tiles can easily be cut with a utility knife. If your cutting shapes / rounded corners etc it's worth cutting a paper or card template first and then use that to cut the rubber tile. This is an easy job and can be done on site, even by a competent DIYer.
