I have a wall which has some early signs of damp, what is the process of fixing this?
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.57 PM
So I have recently stripped back some old paper on one of my walls and have noticed in the corner of the wall, some damp. Just wondering what the process was to get this rectified. Ive heard of so many paints and solutions that you can apply to the wall before painting but have heard that this doesn't get rid of the damp. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Best thing to do is get stain block spray to cover the damp patch the other thing is you can get someone to have a look at your wall to see if there is anything wrong with the exterior wall and your wall as a process of elimination.

As Fixaflow has highlighted, stain block will only 'cover' the issue and will not rectify the problem. There are many factors to consider when diagnosing damp such as the age of your property i.e. does it have a damp proof course. If it does has it failed, is it rising or penetrating damp. You should contact a damp specialist so they can investigate thoroughly prior to redecorating.
