hasn’t done the jointing (due to weather)
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.56 PM
I had Indian stone laid at the start of October 2020, I bought resiply for the contractor to do the jointing. He didn’t find time to do it before the temperature really dropped, now after recent snow water has gotten underneath the slabs and made them come loose. Will this require re laying?

Hi Patrick, yes if slabs have came loose or started rocking / sinking. They 100% definitely need to be relayed. Although I would recommend waiting till the temperature picks up a little so they can be pointed straight away to prevent this happening again.

If the slabs have come loose this means water has got under and probably frozen. To me this means the slabs were not laid on a full bed and did not have a slurry wash applied to the backs prior to laying. If they were laid correctly when you lift them the laying coarse should come up stuck to the back of the slab.
Only answer to get them re-laid properly
