Help trying to work out what tradesman I need to contact

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.56 PM

My sons ceiling is wet from the corner of his room and goes the whole length of the bedroom where the ceiling meets the wall one side which is an outside wall. I've had a plumber round and he said there are no pipes in the loft that could be leaking and thinks it may be something to do with the eaves or soffits but isnt sure. He also said he couldnt see any signs of damp. Is anyone able to help me work out what this could be so I can get in touch with the appropriate tradesman please?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

This sounds more like a roof problem, maybe a broken or missing tile due to the amount of staining on your sons ceiling , a roofer or handy man is what you need from your diagnosis. Hope this helps.

Hello. You don’t say what type of property it is. I’ve known water ingress track along purlins on hipped ridges which haven’t been pointed correctly. If it’s a dormer bedroom and it has a flat roof I would suggest checking it for holding water or it could simply be a skate missing. To be honest it could be quite a few things and would suggest getting a long established roofer, and certainly not a handyman.
