Massive flooding caused by wastewater reversing from sewage

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.38 PM

Hi! I did have massive flooding reversing back from sewage. Currently, I am in argument with the Real Estate whose fault it was. I wrote the the following email, and would really appreciate some expert advice, as I know little from plumbing/bathroom/sewage constructions... --"I am not an expert in plumbing so I'm doing simple assumptions and would like to ask simple questions (could you please forward them to plumbing guys?) => As I can see now through to the hole in the wall (and also saw and felt from the stuff coming out of the sink), all wastewater from the shower, sink and toilet combines and goes down into one single pipe. => I have NEVER seen any single drop returning back from sewage into the toilet loo or shower! => That only means that there is some equipment that protects it from happening! => Doesn't it mean that the wastewater path from sink to the common waste pipe contains faulty (non-existent???) siphon?" --

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

you have a blocked or partially blocked drain, there is nothing that prevents this from happening if you have a blockage, get a qualified plumber to look at it ,why do you believe it is the estates problem ?.

Agree with the above answer. The public seem to think it’s ok to dispose of wet wipes down the loo... this is a no no. If they snag on pipe work this will cause a blockage and problems.... hair is another problem down the shower outlet, make sure you clean the outlet out on a regular basis.

if there is any waste water coming back into your wall/ floor or anywhere it should be investigated asap as this could damage your property and also start smelling, it could be a leak from any pipes not visible but hidden in the wall ,

It is very likely that blockage is on sewage pipe. It be worth to check manhole. Yes there is sewage Non Return Valves that can be installed on sewage pipe
