Twin button toile cistern starts to slowly refill after a few hours

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.38 PM

Not an issue, but it is annoying and could probably develop into a worse condition. There is a posi-drive adjustment screw on the float. Should I adjust it, or should I get the mechanism replaced eventually?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

there are restrictors and filters in modern inlet valves, check filters no blocked or wrong restrictor is fitted.

You can try to lower the float with what said ( a posi driver) or you could use your fingers to twist it. If that doesn't work, then its either replace the gubings in the inlet valve or replacement. A plumber would normally charge around £40/60 to do the full replacement. Possibly £30 for adjustment as it would take 5 mins but they have travel time, diesel, wear and tear and tax to cover etc..

As the previous answer .. its the inlet that's causing the problem you should have a ballafix valve on the pipe work going into the cistern turn this off then dismantle the inlet valve and clean with hot water should sort the issue out .
