STEEL LINTEL RUNNING AT THE SIDE OF STAIRCASE
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.38 PM
I am renovating a 1930's semi. A supporting wall has been partly removed next to the staircase, say two thirds has been removed. No planning permission was applied for by the previous owner so I took out an indemnity just in case. I have stripped back and a fair job has been done by someone. At least six inches of the lintel is sitting on one course of blue solid brick and packed out with slate and strong mortar. I have painted it with red oxide so I am now reasonably happy and I don't want to disturb it any further. My question is........is sits right next to the stairs which are plaster boarded underneath, etc. I understand that I can double skin with standard board or single fire rated plasterboard but do I have to use fire board around all areas of the lintel or just on the lintel. I don't want to disturb the stairs and other areas if I don't have to. Thanks for any help.
