Why do my downstairs lights keep tripping?
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 2.54 PM
Hi, My downstairs lights keep tripping, I had the same thing happen about a year ago and I called an Electrician in who tested each light and could not find a fault - it happened on a off for serveral weeks just randomly and then just stopped. Its been over a year and now it has happen again. Each time they trip, I have switched back on a the main box and it could be an hour or 6 before it trips again. What could this be, I'm a little worried? Regards L Bedwell

If it is the RCD that is tripping, it means there is an earth leakage of 30milliamps or more. Usually, if it's lighting, it could possibly be an outside light that perhaps water has entered (lots of rain lately!). If the terminals are wet, the electricity can track through the water to earth

if it is just the breaker that is tripping then it could be faulty, but if it is an rcd tripping then there must be an earth fault, you really need an electrician to check this out, but even an electrician cannot rectify a fault that is not apparent when he visits, regards Tery.
