Do I have to pay for boiler repairs which haven't solved the problem
Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.39 PM
Hiya, i was just wondering as to what is the procedure in paying for works done which haven't actually solved the problem. Ive been having problems with my hot water and struggle to fill a warm bath. Had a plumbing firm come out swap plate heat exchange and bill me £300. This has changed nothing and still having problems. Am I still expected to pay? Thanks.

Yes you should still be expected to pay for the part maybe not the labour as it’s incorrect fault diagnosis. On rare occasions two parts can go at once or a part faulting causing another to fault

Depends on how it was diagnosed did company consulte with the manufacturers ,if advised by manufacturers then yes as engineer guided by them, sounds like it is a combi boiler so if engineer wasn’t sure safer to change a cheaper part than go for heat exchanger,
You should agree to meet half way as long as problem is solved

I personally wouldnt pay for an incomplete repair that didnt solve the problem just because the repair company guessed.
UNLESS....
They stated it may be that but they arent sure and cannot prove it inless they replace it. AND you then agreed to it.
Speak to them get them back to complete the repair
Test it by running the bath before you pay
