New bathroom floor build up to finished tiles
Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.39 PM
Hi folks. My DIY bathroom re-fit so far has involved replacing the rotting 4 x2 timber joists in the sub-floor, over a newly poured concrete slab and DPM. Insultation between joists. 18mm ply on top for the new structural floor. Building control content with the structure, insulation, ventilation. My question is whether the next layers sound right to you. I plan to bed 6mm backer board onto the plywood with a flexible adhesive, then an electric UFH heating mat, then the tiler will tile over all that with the finished floor. Does that sound right? I'm a bit stuck on whether a Ditra Mat or similar is needed, and if so, where?
