Metak door glazing beads on the outside

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.38 PM

Hi - I'm in the process of buying a house which had a single storey extension done in 2016 and the extension has the metal door leading to the back garden. In the survey I got conducted, the surveyor said - "The door side panel beads are on the outside and could be easily removed to potentially allow intruders to enter the property." I wanted to check whether there is any way to secure to prevent intruders break in or can the beading be moved now from outside to inside?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi You have an older door with the beading on the outside. What you can do is remove the beading then silicone the panel in and the beading. Personally I would not worry too much about this as if someone did try to remove the beading they would make a noise removing the beading. Hope this helps Trevor ID Windows Doors Glazing Creating a new ID to your property

If it is metal and beaded externally it is probably pressure glazed using rubber gasket on the internal side of the door, so it is a struggle to just de-glaze and get in, if it is a big issue for you then it would be best to replace with internal beaded door
