Fitting french door to a house with external insulation

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.38 PM

I have an old 1800s house that has externsl insulation fitted as it has no cavity. I am wanting to have a new openning and french door fitted. Can this be done and made good?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

The external insulation will not make a difference, you can still install the doors and make good afterwards.

It can be done but needs careful design detailing to avoid cold bridging and water penetration.

So long as your builders take their time and care not to cause “ damage “ to the insulation etc then there is no reason why the installation can’t be carried out
