Swing hanger install

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.18 PM

I have a couple of 2000lbs stainless steel swing hangers I want to install on the ceiling of a outbuilding for use with a child swing seat... the ceiling is plasterboard and skimmed, and above it are equally spaced wooden beams. I have tried mounting the swing hangers into the beam but the screw doesn’t fully tighten. Any other suggestions to get around this?

1, Make sure the screws you are using are the correct size and not to long also drill a small pilot hole slightly longer than the screws you are using and make sure you have got the right tools for the job.

Large eye shape hooks with a coarse thread could prove to be a better base to fix the swing onto.

if its an out building i would expose the beams and get a true fixing then patch the ceiling for safety measures. make sure you check out online the size screws and fixings you need.

Use a thicker gauge screw , or a coach bolt it’s spinning because it isn’t gripping as it should be
