Bricklaying & Repointing

cleaning morter and cement stains from concrete slab drive

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.35 PM

I HAD A BRICK WALL BUILT BY A BRICKLAYER AND LABOURER WHO LEFT LOTS OF PILES OF MORTER ON DRIVE, FROM LAYING THE BRICKS. WHEN THEY FINISHED EACH DAY THEY JUST HOSED THE DRIVE DOWN. I'M LEFT WITH A TERRIBLE MESS TO CLEAN UP SOMEHOW. DRIVE LOOKS NEARLY WHITE ALL OVER, WITH LOTS OF LARGE PATCHES OF OLD CEMENT. AS I AM AN ELDERLY LADY WITH NO IDEA WHAT CAN BE DONE TO RETURN THINGS TO NORMAL, CAN YOU HELP WITH SUGESTION? THANK YOU.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Scrub with brick acid and power washer. Tested on a small area first to make sure there's no discolouration. Always use protective clothing when using chemicals

Scrape up any heavy drops of cement using a floor scraper, then use brick acid applicate with a brush then wash off with water I’d advise you to buy neat concentrated acid to be diluted down. I normally use a pressure washer aswell depending on the surface the stains are on.

Use concrete acid, this will break it down then scrub it once scrubbed Jetwash the whole area down. Make sure you have the correct gloves and face mask when using the acid. Wear safety glasses when operating Jetwash.
