Hairline crack in New plater boarded ceiling

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.35 PM

Plaster boarded ceiling has been skimmed. I think the plasterer didn't tape a joint which has now cracked in a straight line across the ceiling. Plaster boards were the width of the room. Should I rake out the crack add filler and scrim cut to size of where I've raked it out then fill over scrim?

Get the plasterer back, it's a fault with his work and should be sorted accordingly, failing that - trace out the plaster in a v shape either side of the crack and fill with easy coat, let dry, sand back and repeat if needed, mist coat bare plaster with 50/50 water and matt emulsion, this helps the paint soak in enough to hold further coats

Hi Use the full width to measure with the scrim and cover feathering to about 4 to 5 inches using chosen filler.
