Underfloor heating | Existing house ground floor

Yes this is possible, with wet underfloor heating If your house has suspended floors, with floorboards and a void below. Then you would need to install 100mm celotex fitted between the floor joists, on top of this you would install alluminum spreader plates, and run the pipe work inside the plates. Once this has been laid, you can then put your floorboards back and laminate on top. This is the best option as you lose no floor height. With a concrete floor, you would lose floor height, because you would have to install insulation with the pipes run inside the insulation, and then lay a self leveling screed on top With electric, you can lay a thin insulation on either screed or timber floors, then put an electric underfloor heating mat down and then lay the laminate on top. Wet is expensive to fit because of the work involved, however is far cheaper and more effective than electric for every day use. Andy
