Giant Puddle on my patio :(

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.56 PM

I have just had a patio layed and there is one side that seems to form a giant puddle every time it rains and it looks awful. I am reluctant to call back the company who did it as they caused me a lot of stress by never turning up when they say they would and making a 2 week job in to a 4 month job, any advice would be appreciated, thanks

Sounds like the patio has not been laid to a fall, meaning that the water will puddle when any constant rain. It can be fixed but may involve adjusting some areas of the patio.

Other than the angle of the patio to ensure water runoff has any drainage been installed? Are the patio slabs concreted into place? Was any consideration given to the garden slope?

That area of patio needs lifting and relaying, it hasn't been layed properly and will always puddle, you need to call them back and they need to relay that area or someone else needs to come in but that will cost you more money.

Yes, it sounds like the patio has been laid without a correct fall, or an area where the subbase not installed correctly. Will probably all need relaying I'm afraid.

The patio has been laid down incorrectly. All patios must slightly slope away from properties correctly, so as to ensure proper drainage. If possible the area must be lifted and relayed correctly.
