Mould cleaner stains showing through fresh paint!

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.55 PM

Our house is old and some areas suffer with condensation damp. I have used a surface mould cleaner and then washed the walls down pre painting (left a few days before painting). I have then put x3 coats of emulsion on. The areas that I have used the surface mould spray on have dripped down the wall (not noticeable pre paint as walls were white) these drip marks are showing through the emulsion. Any ideas? Thanks *note* mould is not the issue, its the drip marks from the mould spray that have run down the wall and dried in, the paint isn't covering them.

walls need sealing first with something like Zinsser Gardz, then paint over with a product such as Perma White (this can be tinted) it is a mould resistant paint that produces a tough, durable finish. You can then if you wish over paint in any emulsion. Hope this helps. If you seal walls this will stop anything showing through such as the spray, drip marks etc you mention

I agree with gps Perma white is great stuff, takes a couple of Coats but won’t get mould. If the water is penetrating from the outside use watertight 1st then couple coats of Perma white. Happy days. Good luck

I agree with the other replies maybe rub down the drip marks and be careful when spraying mould spray to close to the wall .
