Is this surface over wood flood ok to tile over
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.55 PM
I'm looking at having the vinyl in our kitchen replaced with porcelain tile. I've read a little on backer board etc. but wondered whether the existing layer between the vinyl and the floorboards is sufficient. It is stuck down well and seems pretty flat and rigid. But I have no idea what it is. Hoping you can help if I share a photo of it please. Never mind they're moderating the image link out :( Cheers.

Hi depending on the thickness ofthe ply wood , you need at least 6mm to lay tiles on , depending on what size tile you are putting on top of the plywood, plywood needs to be screwed down are nailed down every 4inch squares that’s the way I have done it for years and not had any come backs hope that helps ,
