Radiator in the loft not heating like the rest of the radiators in the house

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.55 PM

The loft with en-suite.The radiator has been bled and the radiator is working from top to bottom but does not get hot as the rest of the radiators in the house.Even the towel rail in the loft en-suite gets very hot but the loft radiator stays warm and does not get hot.It is on max. What should I do. I think the radiator is 400BTU and was installed last year .The property is serviced with a combi boiler which is 2 years old .

the rads may need balancing, or it could be poor pipework design or sizing .

It's possibly due to the length of the pipework and how far it is away from the boiler. Radiators closer to the boiler will steal the heat first. You can try balancing your radiators. This is very easy to do and there's no need to get someone in to do it. There are plenty of videos on YouTube. If after balancing your system you find that this particular radiator isn't working, you can install a small pump called a Shower Booster Pump and this will solve the circulation problems. This small pump is made in the UK and featured on the TV show Dragons Den.
