Any idea how to know if pipe is still running

There is a pipe that preferably be taken out. Any idea how to check if pipe still in use in the flat?

Turn on the taps close to the pipe. If they get colder or hotter you know that the water is still flowing through them. You might also be able to feel the vibrations in the pipe work.
