Central Heating

After gas safety check, the boiler keeps losing pressure and needs topping up daily.

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.38 PM

After the engineer reporting no issues following the gas safety check, the next day the boiler lost pressure and required topping up (display showing E19 error code), this has then been required everyday since the inspection. Is there something he might of switch off/on that could have caused this?

A boiler losing pressure could be two reasons first expansion vessel failure water losing through pressure relief valve(prv) and 2nd is central heating system got leak.

This is a common problem this time of year, may be coincidental that it has started since the gas check was carried out as he shouldn’t of touched anything unless he was doing a full service. Check the pressure relief pipe outlet, if it’s dripping then there may be an issue with the PRV and/or expansion vessel.

it is more likely the expansion vessel than the prv.

Either a leak on the system pipe work, rad valves, heat ex, pressure relief valve letting by, expansion vessel may need to be recharged, can’t see how the engineer could have caused this.
