Stone raisen shower tray with recessed surfacs in the base/bottom / underneath surface

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.37 PM

Hi, my customer has bought a stone raisen shower tray. The underside of the tray has small pockets recessed in. The instructions are not very clear on fitting the tray. They basically say screwed / self level foot and apply adhesive on the base of tray. My questions is. How do we install the stone raisen shower tray. I have solid wood 30mm floor base and I have plywood on top (9mm) all screws in tightly. There is screed on the ply all levelled out. Would Silicone hold shower tray in place or do I need week cement mixture to fill all base pockets of shower tray. ??? Thanks

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi There are many ways to install trays Personally I use a good expanding foam. Dampen the floor and the underside of the tray after you have checked it sits level all round Spray the floor with foam and place the tray in position .Connect the waste correctly then cover the inside of the tray with a dust sheet after this place weight in the tray I use a few bowes of tiles or my tool box. The foam fills all cavities and gives stability to the tray. Done correctly the tray will be in place very securely. An alternative approach would be tile adhesive I would use a bag mix and cover the area the tray sits I then use a 13mm notched trowel to spread it Hooe this helps

The proper way to install a tray is be guided by the manufactures instructions,I have been doing these 35yrs we always bed them on a weak sand & cement mix as it always says in the instructions do it as they ask then if it cracks after you have know come backs when the manufacturer try’s to get out of a warranty claim hope this helps you.

A cement base tile adhesive normally works well.
