Which trade to diagnose wet sub floor under suspended wooden floors
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.37 PM
The ground floor in my 1930s house in Bromley is suspended wooden floors but some rooms and the garage is solid concrete. When it rains a lot, it smells damp and wet at the front of the house. I’ve taken up a floor board in a few places, and I can see the subfloor (40cm below floor) is wet at the front of the house. My question is how can I get this sorted? I want to post something on mybuilder but which trade to I ask for? Groundwork? Damp? Paving? Also I can see 5 sub floor air bricks from outside the house. If I want to have extra air bricks added which trade do I ask for? I’m guessing an angle grinder will be needed to remove a brick and an air brick inserted. Would I need a bricklayer or some sort of specialist? Some extra info: the driveway at the front of the house is sloping down to the house, but there are some long drains in front of the house. I don’t have raising damn at the front of the house, I had it around the back and have got that sorted. Also, I think that the outside ground level is higher than the sub floor.
