Wood fibre vs Duralay

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.37 PM

Hi, Anyone had experience of using wood fibre underlay (with a vapour barrier) and Duralay Premier for laminate flooring on floorboards? Which one was better and why? My primary concern is thermal efficiency but welcome to hear all thoughts. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

They both do the job but I personally prefer to us the duralay because it comes on a roll and although heavy is easier to use the fibre board is a lot cheaper though

Duralay is a much better quality underlay, I would highly recommend that to go over a concrete floor providing it has no underfloor heating, if the underlay was to have a membrane. However fibre board can be good for going over floorboards providing the floorboards are flat you could run the floor the same way as the existing floorboards and save money on ply, so it does have some positives.

Duralay is far superior to fibreboard as is reflected in the price ie you get what you pay for
