Gas cooker disconnection

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.38 PM

Hi, We're moving house tomorrow so I was going to disconnect our dual fuel cooker today. I was expecting to find an isolation valve at the cooker pipe connection so I could just isolate then disconnect the flexi- hose, however there isn't one there, the pipe just connects onto an elbow then into the hose. Will I need a gas fitter to disconnect this? Thanks, Daz. Thanks Wayne. All sorted now. Managed to get a great gas engineer to cap it off, and at short notice too! Phew!

The fitting you are describing is a bayonet which is self sealing but you should get a gas fitter to disconnect so he can test the installation to make sure it is gas tight

The hose should be on a self sealing bayonet If in doubt get a gas safe registered engineer to check it £40 well spent?
