Should replaced sections of moisture resistant plasterboard be taped at the edges?
Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.38 PM
I’ve been advised when replacing part of a plasterboard wall that the edges of moisture resistant plasterboard must be taped to maintain its integrity in the event of damp or leak. Is that correct?

Moisture resistant plasterboard is almost an oxymoron as all of its components are moisture absorbing.
If you are cutting through the paper covering then the best treatment is to mix SBR and neat cement in a ratio of 1:1 and apply by brush to the exposed cuts . This treatment is more water proof than the board it’s self .
