Hot water tank sounds like it is constantly refilling
Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.37 PM
My hot water tank upstairs is loud and sounds like it is constantly refilling when the hot water is on. It is fine when the central heating is on. What could this be due to?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hey,
If its working fine when your heaters are on then it might just help to adjust the position of the float, your water tank manual should explain how to do this.
Best of luck,

2 different tanks altogether for hot water and centrel heating my thoughts would be a faulty ball cock not shutting off properly when the waters filling up. Check outside see if any waters getting disbursed out of the overflow.

If you have a mega flo or similar with an expansion vessel it is possible that the expansion vessel has failed so you’ll here water running when the pressure relief valve opens or that the pressure relief valve on the mains water inlet valve to the water heater has failed,
Yo7ll need a suitable ble qualified plumber or heating engineer to look at this.
