Looking for someone to replace all my internal doors in the new year
Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.37 PM
Looking for someone to replace all of our internal doors in February next year. There are 8 in total. Complete and utter novice when it comes to these things, but I have found all doors at Screwfix but don’t know what handles and extra parts to order? Also was wondering how long a job like that would take?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi,
Post the job closer to the time for best results. I would ask for it priced as a fixed quote for 8x doors, rather than day rate.
I good Carpenter should be able do 4-5 doors a day, as long as not too many problems with existing frames etc. Approx 2hrs a door.
This can can increase if it involves fire doors, doors upstairs etc
We would prefer to supply all Ironmongery other than handles to ensure quality and correct sizes for door size, weight etc
Hope that helps

Regarding time, it all depends on the door lining/frame. It takes longer per door on old frames, and to be honest I would supply the handles only, and the carpenter supply the hinges and latches

For handles screwfix has a good range. Go the screwfix book pages 153 onwards. I have bought and fitted most of them. They’re cool.
And yeah regarding timing, it is a 2 day job as others mentioned. Though a few factors involved.
